Libby LagutaThought Leadership in Healthcare Design

I believe interior design contributes to healthcare patients' and senior living residents' ability to heal and thrive in their environment.

With a concentration on acute healthcare, outpatient clinics, physician offices, and residential healthcare, I am focused on designing based on best and proven practices. I enjoy pulling apart masses of information and assembling the pieces into a sensible design to meet the needs of the physicians, nursing staff, patients and residents.

I have a talent for leading complex projects within a healthcare environment.

After working a total of 35 years, both as a member of an architectural firm and as a freelance designer, I provide independent expertise to as many owners and projects as possible. Definitely, I'm in a niche market of healthcare and senior living. Clients require a facility that is both unique and consistent with their brand. It needs to touch the clients it serves. Today, the optimal word is "Consumer" and all designs point to making patients and families at ease and comfortable in the physical environment.

Recognizing the trend to serving the aging population, I have earned a Certificate in Gerontology and apply that to my work in both residential healthcare and acute healthcare.

With a commitment toward certification of all designers focused on healthcare interior design, I have dedicated my time to the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers (AAHID). Her goal is to make “Certified Healthcare Interior Designer” (CHID) a mandatory requirement for healthcare projects.
